St. Mark’s United Methodist Church is pleased to present the 2021—2022 Concert
Series. Each year our goal is to offer the community a variety of quality performers and genres of music. We also encourage young artists by providing them opportunities to perform before an audience. Thank you for your support in making this series possible. We wish you all an enjoyable concert season.

San Diego Children’s Choir
Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
San Diego Children’s Choir is the area’s oldest and largest choral music program for children, involving more than 1,000 participants in three robust areas of programming: Early years (ages 4-6), Outreach (in-school elementary), and Ensemble (ages 6-18).

Celebrate music of the season as St. Mark’s handbells and voice choirs prepare our hearts for Advent and the birth of Jesus. There may be a surprise visit by our toy soldiers.

SACRA/PROFANA and Artistic Director Juan Carlos Acosta have “successfully renovated the obligatory choral Christmas concert into a journey of spiritual challenge and refreshment,” according to Ken Herman of San Diego Story. Join the San Diego-based professional chamber choir for a unique take on the holiday concert this December.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Comm. Choir
Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 4:30 p.m.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir of San Diego is a traditional gospel choir singing songs with spiritual meaning and heart-filled sound. Their mission is to raise funds for educational grants for San Diego County high school seniors pursuing a college degree in visual or performing arts. Choir members’ faith is expressed through songs of praise and worship, giving God the glory.
Phillips/Lombardo: Harp/Flute Duo
Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 4:30 p.m.
This duo, comprised of Julie Smith Phillips, harpist, and Rose Lombardo, flutist, will warm your hearts with their musicality. Both members of the San Diego Symphony, they will perform selections that enhance the beauty of their instruments’ sounds.
Stephanie Trick/ Paolo Alderighi, Piano Duo
Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 4:30 p.m.
Pioneers in the use of four-hands jazz piano, Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi have earned widespread success with their arrangements of classics from the stride piano, ragtime, and boogie-woogie repertoires through the swing era. Their concert will include both four hands on two pianos and four hands on one piano.

The St. Mark’s Glory Ringers handbell ensemble, under the direction of Robin Tripp, will host local handbell choirs in our annual concert. You’ll have the unique opportunity to see and hear a variety of musical offerings and a collaborated mass ringing as the joyful sounds of bells and chimes fill our beautiful sanctuary.
