Why I joined the Jamaica Mission Team...
When Marya first presented the idea of the Mission Trip to Jamaica at our Monthly Youth Director's meetings I was immediately intrigued by the opportunity to include all of my passions: travel, ministry and serving the youth and young adults of our district. As the Youth Director at San Dieguito UMC, I partially see my participation in this trip as an investigative tool to potentially invite my youth group to participate in Ministry with Praying Pelican. I also see this as a chance to be able to help grow stronger Young Adult Programs District Wide so our youth have a greater sense of belonging once their youth group experience comes to an end in graduation from high school. But most of all I am excited to serve with this team, bringing together our separate talents, goals and faith lives to the community of Roses Valley in Jamaica.
