WOW!! I was completely impressed with the children's presentation of A Technicolor Promise yesterday in worship. It was the best children's musical I have ever seen. From the memorization to the singing to the choreography to the music, it was superb! Let's all express our thanks to Frank Williams, Cheryl Eubanks, and all who assisted in leading the children; especially for the many hours given to the production.
If you have children who are not in the children's choirs, now is a great time to sign them up. This is also a great opportunity to remind everyone that Vacation Bible School will soon be upon us, happening the third week in July this year. Of all the things a church does throughout the year, the ministry to children is perhaps the greatest and the most important.
One of my favorite Bible reports of Jesus life is the Mark passage that was read this past Sunday morning. This is the passage where parents are bringing children to Jesus that he might bless them and the disciples try to chase them away, for Jesus is simply too busy. But Jesus turns everything around when he says that all must become like children to be part of the kingdom of God. Then Jesus takes the children up into his arms (so we know they were small children), and blesses them, one by one. Each one was just as important as the other. I imagine there were some mighty pleased parents that day, just as there were this past Sunday at St. Mark's when the children were given center stage...and lo and behold...they ended up blessing all of us!
