Keeping In Touch

                                         By Rev.Martha Wingfield

By the time, you read this, our Christmas celebrations will have begun. The presents will be opened and Christmas dinner will have been spread and eaten. But having enjoyed the trappings of December 25th does not mean that Christmas is over. Christmas has only begun.  To quote the wonderful poem by Howard Thurman,

When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and the princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flocks,
The work of Christmas begins.

The peace and new hope that Jesus’ birth brings into our lives is what makes it Christmas.

When we gather in worship this week, we will hear the story from Luke about the baby Jesus being presented at the Temple. It is a story of recognition and great hope that this little baby is the one for whom we have been waiting.

On this last Sunday of 2008, I want to recognize the Trustees who have been as busy as ever this year.  They all give generously of their time and talents to keep our campus functioning and in wonderful condition. Their big project this year was to remodel the main office building.  Their work is nearly completed and I invite you to come to the “Open House” in the office after the service.

See you Sunday,

Martha
